Cocconia, commonly known as Tendli in India, is an elongated and slender-shaped tropical vegetable measuring 5cm in length with smooth outer surfaces with occasional fine bumps or ridged surfaces. They have a light green to dark green color based on their maturity levels. The flesh is clad in a pale green color and filled with numerous white seeds inside. These are Pluckk’s pre-julienne cut Tendli that you can add to your salads or meals without the hassle of cutting them.
Tendli is slightly tangy, mild, and sweet in flavor and appears as a cocktail of green beans and cucumber. The vegetable is frequently used in curries, stir-fries, pickles, side dishes, stews, and soups, among others. They can be used as fritters, stuffed, or with rich dishes such as biryani and pilaf.
Cocconia (Tendli) or Ivy Gourd are perishable in nature and thus, must be consumed fresh as it arrives. You can keep these veggies in the fridge as they have a shelf life of 2 to 3 days. Use an airtight container or a plastic bag before storing it in the fridge as it will extend its life a bit.

Coccinia or Tendli contains beta-carotene which are antioxidants that neutralize free radicals, harmful free-floating molecules, that are on a rampage to destroy immune cells and weaken the immune system. The antioxidants reduce the risk of chronic diseases as well.
The dietary fiber found in tendli is good for your gut. It prevents constipation as the fiber binds with the stools adding the bulk.
Potassium is a crucial mineral that has the function of maintaining fluid balance, muscle contractions, and nerve functions among others. It is also what removes excess sodium from the body which would otherwise lead to high blood pressure. It works by relaxing blood vessels leading to easier flow of blood in the vessels.
